Mary, Our Mother

We invoke Mary frequently as “our hope” because she has shown us Jesus, and passed down to us the great things which God constantly does for humanity. She does so simply, as a mother teaches her children at home.

Mary, Our Mother

Mary accompanies us with her maternal presence amid the events of our personal lives, our family lives, and our national lives. Happy are those men and women who place their trust in him who, at the very moment when he was offering his life for our salvation, gave us his Mother to be our own!

Mary, Our Mother

Through her "yes", through the generous gift of herself, Mary has opened up to God the gates of our world and our history; And she invites us to live like her in invincible hope, refusing to believe those who claim that we are trapped in the fatal power of destiny.

Mary, Our Mother

Let us turn to Mary and ask her to guide us as we struggle to remain faithful to the life-giving relationship that God has established with each one of us. She is our example and our inspiration, she intercedes for us with her Son, and with a mother’s love she shields us from harm.

Mary, Our Mother

In the lovely painting venerated in this basilica, the Blessed Virgin holds her Son in one hand with immense tenderness while extending her other hand to succor sinners. This is how the Church in every age sees Mary. We praise her for giving us the Redeemer and we put our trust in her as the Mother whom her divine Son bequeathed to us from the Cross. For this reason, we invoke her frequently as “our hope” because she has shown us Jesus and passed down to us the great things which God constantly does for humanity. She does so simply, as a mother teaches her children at home.

Mary, Our Mother

Let us invoke the intercession of Mary, 'Our Lady of the Way', so that the joyful proclamation of salvation in Jesus Christ may bring hope to the hearts of those who are on the move on the roads of the world.

Mary, Our Mother

With immense gratitude, let us ask Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate and our Mother, to protect every earthly mother: those who, together with their husband, raise their children in a harmonious family context, and those who, for many reasons, find themselves alone to face a very difficult duty. May they carry out with dedication and loyalty their daily service within the family, the Church and society. May the Blessed Mother be for all a support, comfort and hope!
